Time on Task Tracking: Track Engagement & Optimize Your Studies
Managing participant engagement can be one of the trickiest parts of running a successful study. That’s where our new Time on Task Tracking feature comes in. This feature gives you clear visibility into how much time participants spend on tasks, helping you identify outliers, improve your future study design and ensure accurate compensation – all with minimal effort.

- Improve Study Design: By analyzing how long it takes participants to complete certain tasks, you can refine future study designs and make adjustments that improve your study's overall flow and structure. You can also use what you learn to improve your future studies.
- Maintain Data Quality: Some participants may rush through tasks or take unusually long to complete them. Time on Task Tracking helps you detect these outliers so you can follow up with them during moderation by getting them to elaborate on their answers or asking probing questions.
- Identify Abnormal Patterns: The time data can reveal unusual patterns that may warrant further investigation, helping you spot potential issues like copy-pasted AI-generated responses or IP address abnormalities so you can address them and ensure the quality of your insights remains high.
- Efficient Workflow: Time on Task Tracking reduces the guesswork and time spent speculating on poor or unusual responses. By minimizing the need to comb through participant data, this feature frees you up to focus on analyzing results and insights rather than logistics.
- Accurate Participant Compensation: It’s not always easy to determine how much participants should be compensated. With Time on Task Tracking, you can now validate compensation based on how much time participants actually spend on tasks, ensuring fairness and transparency.
When running a study, it’s essential to ensure participants are spending the time required for thoughtful responses. With Time on Task Tracking, you can easily see who’s rushing, who’s spending more time than expected and where you might need to adjust future tasks for better completion.

AI Questions V2: Follow Up and Dig Deeper
In July, we announced our new Recollective AI Questions feature, which enables you to ask targeted questions about your study data and get instant summaries, trends and insights. The feature has been a big hit – since launch, Recollective customers have already asked over 17,000 questions!
We heard all the great feedback on AI Questions from our users, and we’re thrilled to announce the launch of this valuable update – you can now ask follow-up questions! This much-requested feature allows you to engage in a back-and-forth conversation with Recollective’s AI, refining and expanding on responses to uncover valuable insights. Additionally, you can now @ mention specific participants or segments in your inquiries, allowing you to target your insights and make comparisons across your study population.
These new features help you stay in control of the insights discovery process, turning the AI into your research partner. You can even leverage AI Questions to create detailed buyer profiles and personas, enhancing your understanding of different segments within your study.

- Richer Insights: With the ability to ask follow-up questions directly to the AI, you can go beyond the first response you get. If you want to dig deeper into the AI’s initial answer, you can keep asking more targeted questions to explore further and discover more valuable insights.
- Seamless Workflow: With the new update, you can stay focused with an uninterrupted, natural question-to-answer flow. This keeps your research moving quickly while ensuring you get the full picture.
- Targeted Insights: You can now @ mention specific participants or segments in your questions, enabling you to gather targeted insights and make comparisons between different groups. For example, you can ask, “What do participants like most about theme parks?” and follow up with, “How do the answers differ between @men vs @women?” This feature allows for more nuanced analysis and helps you uncover distinct preferences across your study population.
- AI as a Research Partner: Our AI will now act as your partner by engaging in a back-and-forth conversation, enhancing your ability to refine your inquiries and tackle complex research questions.
- Faster Validation: The update also adds an improved interface that makes it easier to confirm AI-generated insights by allowing you to cross-reference answers with source data from your study.
For example, imagine you’re running a study about a grocery store and you ask the AI, "What are the biggest challenges participants face when grocery shopping?" You can then follow up on the AI’s answer with questions like, "Tell me more about store-related challenges.” or “What improvements can be made to address these challenges?” This allows your questions to evolve by building on previous answers and digging deeper as new insights emerge.
