Senior DevOps Specialist

Recollective is looking for a Senior DevOps Specialist to join our team full time. The DevOps Specialist will be a part of a team that is responsible for designing, developing, and operating the infrastructure and applications.

Recollective has now been deployed by over a 1000 of the world's top research agencies and brands to conduct qualitative research in nearly every industry. On Recollective, businesses can easily engage stakeholders in structured or unstructured activities within their own private community supported by familiar social features. Information may be collected, socialized and analyzed via computer desktop or mobile device and incorporates text, images, audio, video, files, and rich media exercises.

The Senior DevOps Specialist will be a part of the team that is responsible for designing, developing, and operating the infrastructure and applications. You will be in charge of the management of all cloud based deployments across all supported geographies.

Key responsibilities

  • Act as a primary contact for all IT infrastructure and IT security related areas.
  • Ensure high levels of availability, security, performance and scalability for Recollective's on-premise and cloud-based infrastructure.
  • Implement and maintain virtual private networks and their connectivity with remote employees and corporate locations.
  • Design and develop a system monitoring solutions that maximize automation, security monitoring and incident response times.
  • Coordinate external security resources such as security experts, security auditors and penetration testing specialists.
  • Assist in the documentation, implementation and maintenance of a comprehensive set of security policies, processes, procedures and training material.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and respond to service incidents.
  • Follow DevOps best practices in designing and developing automation to support continuous delivery and continuous integration processes.
  • Assist with the completion of security questionnaires by prospects and customers.
  • Provide status updates to stakeholders and escalates issues when necessary.

Knowledge and experience

  • Minimum of 5 years cumulative hands-on experience in DevOps and/or development roles
  • Production Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Experience with AWS security measures as they relate to EC2, VPC & Security Groups, etc.
  • Background in Linux/Unix administration.
  • Designing, implementing, and managing endpoint security controls and best practices.
  • Understanding of IT security industry standards (i.e. ISO-27001; SOC).


This position is located at our head office in downtown Ottawa (World Exchange Plaza). Due to COVID-19, all employees are working remotely until late 2020.
