Overview of the Role
As a member of our HR team, the Human Resources Coordinator will report directly to the Vice President, Human Resources and will actively contribute to the delivery of a world class talent experience by providing support across all areas of HR, including talent acquisition, employee relations, compensation, coaching and performance, benefits and wellness, diversity and inclusion. The HR Coordinator is a self-motivated team player who values an opportunity to learn in a fast-paced environment where no two days will look the same.
Key responsibilities of the role:
- Provides support to the members of the HR team, including the Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist, Vice President of HR, and Chief HR Officer
- Supports the recruitment process by posting roles, coordinating interviews and reference checks, drafting offer letters, etc.
- Works closely with the Vice President of HR to deliver the full range of HR services and programs
- Contributes to ongoing HR projects and priorities
- Researches employment laws and regulations, compliance standards, and benchmarks policies
- Maintains accurate team member data in our HR Management System (BambooHR)
- Refines existing processes or builds new processes with the team member experience in mind
- Prepares HR reports to transform data into meaningful information for business leaders
Competency Profile
The ideal candidate will be a positive team player with a strong interest in the field of human resources, and who highly values the opportunity to learn about all the different areas of HR in an entry level generalist role. They will have strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills, and the ability to build strong internal relationships across all levels of the organization.
In addition, the successful candidate will be a self-starter who is keen to take ownership. They will be a hard-working problem solver with a customer focus who is looking to have fun doing serious work.
Required Skills and Experience
- Post-secondary education in human resources, business, psychology or a related field
- 1-2 years of experience in a similar role
- Ability to multitask, prioritize and meet deadlines
- Has an eye for detail and is well organized
- Ability to handle sensitive, confidential information
- Work experience in customer service
- Excellent written communication skills
- Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets and PowerPoint/Google Slides
Location
This position is open to candidates in all remote locations. The HR team will be located at our beautiful new headquarters in downtown Ottawa (World Exchange Plaza, 100 Queen St). Preference will be given to candidates in Ottawa and to those in time zones that are conducive to collaboration with the core team.
